I recorded "WMX8 EP" at home, the weekend before I was going to drive to Toronto to meet with fellow co-workers at the wrestling webzine I was working for at the time for WrestleMania 18 (or as it was stylized at the time, "X8"). An initial session on Saturday, March 9, 2002, resulted in the EP's first two songs, which is when I hit upon a plan: I decided to record a new song every night between then and Tuesday, master the EP and burn some CDR copies on Wednesday, and take the copies with me to give to my co-workers. The titles were picked out long beforehand; I had conceived of the album as being the soundtrack to the forthcoming weekend's fun and in that souvenir sort of way, it definitely served its purpose. The reception went down well enough to try distributing the EP through MP3.com, which ended up closing months later. I later reissued the EP digitally through iTunes in 2006, allowing the album to exist there until October of 2007 when I decided to pull the album.

This edition of the album has been digitally remastered from the existing digital master recordings, as a way to help hype and fund forthcoming releases for other projects. Since then, I have remastered and reissued all of EDM back catalog worldwide on all major download and streaming platforms, first through Distrokid and then, as of July of 2018, through the more cost-effective and less restrictive Stem. Since the release of the rock instrumental "Diesel Power" in the summer of 2016, everything has been new material. But it all started here.
